Hi and thanks for visiting us!
cross&hyde has been working with Gostelows,
which has been one of the largest leather manufacturers in the UK since 1926,
for many years and is still going to work with them during the XHyde brand
re-launch.
The provenance of the workmanship of the
cross&hyde brand is the commitment to Gostelows manufacturing, which was
originally founded by the Thompson family which was taken over by the Gostelow
family, and in the 40's and 50's was one of the largest handmade suitcase and
satchel manufacturers in the UK, employing over 50 people with a purpose built
factory. Gostelows has moved with the times and has manufactured bespoke and
custom products for the cross&hyde, and several other brands, for many
years.
With products ranging from the classic satchel,
leather tote bags to Macbook Pro cases we make products that will last for
years and will probably be handed down generation to generation. There are many
smaller workshop businesses making similar items but not many have the heritage
that goes with the products we make.
We
have been designing hand crafted leather satchels, suitcases, totes and many
other leather products for many years. We are proud to call the historical city
of Hull our home, we don't out-source any work and every part of your
cross&hyde satchel or bag is British made.
Every
person in our company has a passion for leather craft and every one of our
satchels and bags is made with love, from us to you. A vast majority of the
machinery used to make our unique bags are as old as the hills, no robotised
cutting or stitching here.
We
source all our leather from Holland, and all other products in the UK, working
with only the highest quality split-grain and bridle leathers. We provide our
'Classics Collection' in a selection of beautiful colours chosen to reference
colours found in the natural world. Our newest ranges of products can come in a
myriad of colours that are only limited by imagination, and we have plenty of
that.
We
are proud of the heritage of the people that make our leather goods and only
work with the finest available products. When you buy a cross&hyde product
you are not buying a mass produced bag made by an unknown person on a factory
line, you are buying an item that has provenence, that has had care taken with
it from the moment the leather is laid on the bench to placing the finished
item in the presentation box.
